I'm about to divulge a most embarrassing tale.
During the 24+ years that we have lived in our house we have NEVER painted the master bathroom.
It has always been on the back burner.
With the years has come its terrible deterioration.
Finally, we decided to buy new fixtures, tile, and paint as a Christmas gift to ourselves.
Little did we know how much effort it was going to take to repair the multiple messes.
The walls were a mural of children's heiroglyphics, the ceiling was discolored and peeling, water had seeped under the pock-marked linoleum, and bathtub tiles had fallen from the wall. The doors had fallen off the "vanity" mirror and the shelf had become completely rusted.
Believe me, it was the remodel from Hades!
But the Extreme Makeover Man came to the rescue!

Old chrome mirrored vanity shelf with broken light fixture vs. oak medicine cabinet with light bar.
Dark, weathered vanity vs. walnut vanity with drawers & pulls!

Iron set-in sink with faded top & broken stopper vs. new one-piece sink unit with brushed nickel faucet.
Dirty, drab window covering vs. bright blinds with valance.

Peeling, discolored ceiling vs. newly textured & warmly painted ceiling & wall.
The beginnings of repairing a water-damaged wall vs. a wall & woodwork freshly painted & repaired.

Old, out-dated linoleum vs. lovely tile & new bath rug.
The vinyl liner left over from a very old shower curtain vs. the warm & vibrant colors of our new look.
Notice the stylish clock that Nancy added as my birthday gift!
Clive is my Make-over Hero!
He made no less than 17 trips to Lowe's to buy or exchange items for the bathroom.
He tore out, repaired, texturized, primed, painted, and installed.
He grumbled and complained and was splattered from head to foot with texturing paint.
I had planned to help, but the room is so tiny that we both couldn't fit in to work at the same time.
I think that it will be my turn to do the bedroom!
I'M SO HAPPY!!!

It looks AMAZING! Make-overs are always so much fun!!
It looks great! I love it! By the way, we are going to be closing on the house in Riverton at the end of April, if all goes well! :)
Mom, it looks so FANTASTIC!! I love what you've done with it- and can't wait to see what you do with the bedroom!
Even poor sick Tegan said on the way home (in a very delirious state), "Do you remember when Grandma and Grandpa painted their bathroom? It looks really good, huh?"
It looks really nice. And way to get it done so quickly. I love home improvement projects. Watch out! It becomes addicting!
Yes, I know. We're already planning a shopping trip for new bedroom carpet and closet organizers.
I can't wait until I have a place of my own and can do something fun to it. Renting is SO LAME!
It only took two weeks to get the paint out of my hard and off my arms. I wore a lot of long-sleeve shirts. But I'm happy with the finished product. I have to give some much-deserved credit to Cody Young for the way the tile work turned out. Now I need to teach Wendy the difference between walnut and oak. There really is a difference (LOL).
Yes ... and the last time I checked, your head is covered with HAIR, not hard!
I love it!! My parents are looking at making some changes too. Way to go.. Looks like a ton of work. Love the blog
Aahhhhhhhh! I love that feeling I get when I walk into a newly remodeled room in my house and I'm not quite used to it yet.
Good for you for doing it when you could have let it slide for 20 more years!
